S.E.C. Founding History

Passion Guided, Industry Driven- armed with this mission statement, SEGi College KL [SCKL] is an unmistaken benchmark for business and accounting excellence. Eager to continuously seek ways to empower its students, sudden back to back successes of a minority entourage to international intervarsity challenges caught the eyes of a few. It reminded everyone that being smaller in campus parameters is no barrier to SCKL’s dominance in moulding towering individuals.

Mr. Vicknesh Thevendran, a management lecturer received a glimpse of what’s necessary to give a total knock in the head for more SCKL undergraduates to stand up and be counted; and soon his vision was shared by Mr. Tony Leong, Ms. Tan Hooi Ein and Mr. Peter Shanker. Preaching ordinary vs extraordinary, the earlier minority entourage of 15 students was recruited and a hunt for SCKL’s brightest, hidden talents was on for weeks. Each future member was evaluated based upon 4C [Character, Competency, Commitment and CGPA]; truth be told after all the interviews, supervision and probation- only selected few qualified.

Starting by getting the best people on the bus, the committee went from good to great. SEGi Entrepreneurship Council- they registered their unmistakable brand at July 7th 2010 and Terrence Tan Wing Hong became the 1st President of S.E.C along with an Executive Committee par excellence. The months ahead, the bond between advisors and the committee grown to a familial degree and keeping their family small and swift-in-action; mimicking their battle cry- Float like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee!; S.E.C. laid the groundwork for building a network of government agencies, corporations, universities, entrepreneurship movements and youth communities all under one umbrella both offline and online. Championing entrepreneurship and enhancing graduates’ employability- became the double edged mission of S.E.C in years to come; bringing Renaissance to local students’ movements by marching beyond the college to the real world.
